How to Apply

We use the Electronic Residency Application System (ERAS), which is available through your medical school Dean's office.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must submit the following documentation on ERAS:

  • Three letters of recommendation from medical school faculty or practitioners with whom you have worked and who can comment on your personal and professional qualifications. One letter must come from an internal medicine physician who can directly address your potential to become an internal medicine physician
  • One-page Personal Statement
  • USMLE/COMLEX 1 and 2 transcript
  • Dean's letter
  • Transcript
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Photo

DO Applicants: USMLE is not required

Our residency program selects applicants based on their preparedness, ability, academic credentials, communication skills and personal qualities such as motivation and integrity. Our program does not discriminate regarding sex, age, religion, color, national origin, disability or veteran status.

All residents must meet and maintain the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners requirements for a permit/intern card for physicians in training or unrestricted medical licensure.

For more information, please contact our Program Coordinator, Caroline Carbrey, at Caroline.Carbrey@fmolhs.org or (318) 966-4147
