Resident Wellness

Our program offers a special wellness curriculum that focuses on the mental, physical, and emotional well-being of our residents. This curriculum spans the entire three years of residency. It includes one of our favorite traditions as a program: our annual wellness retreat! During this retreat, all the residents are excused from clinical duties and get to engage in tons of fun, teambuilding activities. Each class also has a separate class retreat every year where the residents do more team building activities as well as community outreach. Another unique aspect of our curriculum includes lectures on "The Art of Medicine". Our wellness curriculum director, Dr. Emily Klepper, organizes these lectures where residents learn through artwork about the importance of "the little things" in medicine.

Throughout the year, we also have multiple other activities that help support our residents' wellness. This includes, but not limited to: a hospital-wide Resident Appreciation Week, birthday celebrations, festive activities held during wellness hours, and Fall Wellness Week.

Campus Assistance Program

The campus assistance program (CAP) through Louisiana State University is offered to all the residents. This program allows assistance for mental and physical health and is free of charge.
