At Our Lady of the Lake Children's Health, we believe that access to not only primary care but also a robust network of specialties is critical to improving children’s health. We offer comprehensive ongoing care for children in more than 30 specialties, in addition to our critical care, intensive care and emergency departments.
Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Health Centers in Schools and community-based teams are the collaboration of education, public health and school health professionals to improve our children’s development and well-being. Our school-based health centers provide comprehensive health services and wellness education to students in grades K-12 in the East Baton Rouge Parish School System, operating seven full-service clinics. Our program encourages residents to learn about international healthcare and offers residents the opportunity to bring the spirit of healing abroad during a global health rotation. Residents are not only able to extend their compassionate care to our neighbors abroad, but also learn about different healthcare infrastructures as well as cultural sensitivity and appreciation in medicine. Our residents have volunteered their time and commitment to many healthcare sites, with a fostered relationship at clinical sites in Kenya and India. With the guidance of our faculty member Dr. Amy Wood, who is an astute neonatologist and our passionate global healthcare leader, we can create an individualized elective rotation that will best suit your educational needs.
