LSU Rural Family Medicine Residency Program

Preparing Future Family Physicians

Our Lady of the Angels Hospital operates one of 55 rurally located residency programs in the nation—the only one of its kind in Louisiana. We graduate six highly trained rural physicians each year. Our unique program is dedicated to preparing family physicians to support the healthcare needs of vulnerable populations in specifically rural contexts.

Our LSU Rural Family Medicine Residency Program is institutionally sponsored and fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education with 18 resident positions. Since 2014, we have recruited six of our graduate medical education program’s graduates to our Northshore team of staff physicians.
