Our Lady of the Lake Children's Hospital's Dr. Shaun Kemmerly Recognized as 2023 LAAP Master Pediatrician Award Recipient

BATON ROUGE, LA — Shaun Kemmerly, MD, chief medical officer of Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital, was recognized with the 2023 Master Pediatrician Award during the 2023 Crescent City Potpourri in New Orleans on August 18.
“Our Lady of the Lake is immensely grateful for Dr. Kemmerly and her exceptional dedication to our patients,” said Jonathan Brouk, president of Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Health. “Receiving the Master Pediatrician Award reflects her ongoing commitment to past and present pediatric care, specifically advancing a series of initiatives in her previous work as hospitalist and community pediatrician. We are excited for the future under Dr. Kemmerly’s continued leadership.”
Dr. Kemmerly received her medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans. Her pediatric residency was completed at the University of Florida in Gainesville. Dr. Kemmerly is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and is Board Certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in general pediatrics.
After 15 years as a general pediatric physician, Dr. Kemmerly joined the Pediatric Hospitalists of Louisiana and ultimately became Clinical Medical Director. She advanced to Chief Medical Information Officer for Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital. In 2013, she was named Chief Medical Officer of Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital, a role she presently holds.
Dr. Kemmerly became an integral part in the building and operations of the Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital before and after its opening in 2019. In her day-to-day, she is responsible for clinical programmatic development across pediatric subspecialties, identifying the full scope of services and promoting connectivity of key components from recruitment of specialists to advancing quality healthcare initiatives.
