Our Lady of the Lake Welcomes 76 New Medical Residents on Match Day 2025

Baton Rouge, La. – Our Lady of the Lake Health proudly welcomes 76 new resident physicians following the 2025 National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) Match Day. This nationwide event marks a critical step for medical students, determining where they will complete their residency training and continue their journey toward becoming board-certified physicians.

“Match Day is a significant milestone for these physicians and our institution," said Chuck Spicer, president of Our Lady of the Lake Health. "As a leader in graduate medical education, we are committed to providing top-tier training, fostering innovation, and ensuring our residents make a meaningful impact on patient care and the communities we serve.”

As the largest academic medical center in the region, Our Lady of the Lake plays a vital role in shaping the future of healthcare. Each year, residents work alongside experienced physicians and clinical teams, gaining invaluable hands-on experience in a collaborative, high-acuity setting.

This year’s residents come from diverse backgrounds, including medical institutions across California, Kentucky, Michigan, and Louisiana-based schools such as LSU Health- New Orleans and LSU Health Shreveport. These residents will join the following residency programs:

  • Our Lady of the Lake Pediatric Residency
  • LSU Our Lady of the Lake Psychiatry Residency
  • LSU Emergency Medicine Residency
  • LSU Internal Medicine Residency
  • LSU Surgery Residency
  • LSU Ear, Nose, and Throat Residency

Beyond residency training, Our Lady of the Lake is a hub for healthcare education, providing hands-on learning opportunities to approximately 3,400 learners annually across multiple disciplines, including nursing, pharmacy, and physician assistant studies. This commitment to medical education ensures that future generations of healthcare professionals are well-prepared to meet the evolving needs of patients.

As these new physicians begin their training, Our Lady of the Lake reaffirms its dedication to developing medical leaders, fostering research, and delivering the highest standard of patient care.
