For over a century, St. Francis Medical Center's mission of extending the healing ministry of Jesus Christ to those most in need has remained constant. From our modest beginning in July 1913 as a three-story red brick building with 75 patient beds, today St. Francis Medical Center includes 325 beds with a Level III trauma center, Graduate Medical Education program, accredited chest pain center, and the area’s only Level II PICU, Level III NICU, OB-ED and Level III OB unit.
Northeast Louisiana families can count on exceptional children’s healthcare at St. Francis Medical Center. We offer the only pediatric intensive care unit and the only Level III neonatal intensive care unit in the region.
Our Level II, six-bed PICU offers extensive pediatric services provided by highly trained medical experts. Our Level III, 35-bed NICU’s team consists of nurses, neonatal nurse practitioners, neonatologists, respiratory therapists, case managers and lactation consultants, along with physical and occupational therapists. Our neonatologists specialize in caring for babies with the most complex healthcare needs, including those born prematurely. They coordinate care and monitor babies in the most high-risk situations.
