Sponsor Information

The Our Lady of the Lake Office of Research conducts industry-sponsored, grant-funded and investigator-initiated drug and device studies and has experience in Phase I-IV clinical trials. The research office specializes in, but is not limited to, cardiovascular, infectious disease, hematology, surgical, emergency medicine and critical care research in adult and pediatric patients.

Hospital and Clinic Information

Our Lady of the Lake is a member of the Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System. Our Lady of the Lake is the largest private medical center in Louisiana, with more than 900 beds, a free-standing Children’s Hospital with more than 80 beds, and free-standing emergency rooms in North Baton Rouge and Livingston. Our Lady of the Lake is the Baton Rouge area’s only Level I Trauma Center, and includes outpatient imaging and surgery centers, and a network of urgent care centers. Our Lady of the Lake also has a 78-bed community hospital in Ascension Parish that provides emergency, inpatient, outpatient and surgical services to Ascension Parish and surrounding areas. More than 450 providers covering 40 specialties care for patients through the Our Lady of the Lake Physician Group. Our Lady of the Lake serves 38,000 inpatients and 820,000 outpatients every year.

Subject Demographics

According to the 2010 Census, the racial and ethnic composition of the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Area was 50.4% Black or African American, 40.8% white, 3.5% Asian, 3.5% Hispanic or Latino, 0.5% Native American, and 1.3% other.

Research Staff

The Office of Research provides research services for Our Lady of the Lake, the Our Lady of the Lake Physician Group and other providers who serve patients at the hospital. The Office of Research includes research coordinators, nurses, a regulatory manager and other support staff. Our Lady of the Lake also has six academic research directors with expertise in protocol development and research training for faculty and residents.

Investigational Products

Our Lady of the Lake has a full-time investigational pharmacist. We have a dedicated -20°C freezer, 4°C refrigerator and climate-controlled room-temperature storage for investigational products, with temperatures monitored daily.

Laboratory and Sample Storage

We have -70°C and -20°C freezers and a refrigerator available for the storage of research samples. Freezers are maintained regularly and have daily temperature monitoring. We have room-temperature and refrigerated centrifuges for laboratory sample processing.
