Our surgeons at Surgeons Group of Baton Rouge are integral members of the Our Lady of the Lake Cancer Institute team to provide advanced cancer care and superb surgical outcomes for patients with pancreas, liver, biliary, upper G.I., and colon cancers, in addition to melanomas and sarcoma.
Our care team coordinates every surgery with the support of medical and radiation oncologists as well as specialized nurses, dieticians, and social workers to provide comprehensive care in collaboration with the patients’ referring provider. Most patients are discussed at one of our multidisciplinary tumor conferences in order to develop the most personalized, comprehensive plan for every individual.
We collaborate with scientists throughout the region to conduct innovative cancer research and have a very robust portfolio of clinical trials. This, along with state-of-the-art patient care and excellent surgical education programs, is our way of moving cancer surgery forward.
We work to eradicate cancer with the most effective and least invasive methods possible. Our group has developed and managed a fully accredited laparoscopic and minimally invasive fellowship for board-eligible general surgeons since 2003, and we were amongst the first in the southeast to begin use of the DaVinci robotic platform for complex cancer surgery.
