Melissa Roy, MD, Appointed Medical Director of Graduate Medical Education for Our Lady of the Lake Health

BATON ROUGE, LA - Our Lady of the Lake Health is pleased to welcome Melissa Roy, MD, in the newly created role of Medical Director of Graduate Medical Education. In this position, Dr. Roy will oversee Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) accreditation activities, work to address institutional needs and strengthen the clinical learning environment at Our Lady of the Lake. Dr. Roy will also help direct GME policy and procedures and chair the Graduate Medical Education Committee.

For over 15 years, Dr. Roy has served as an academic faculty member in Louisiana graduate medical education programs. Since 2015, she has been a member of the clinical faculty at Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital. She currently serves as a Pediatric Hospitalist at the Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital overseeing resident and student learners. She is a clinical Instructor of Pediatrics for LSU Health Sciences Center, Tulane University School of Medicine, and Baton Rouge General Family Medicine Residency Program. In 2015, she was appointed Associate Program Director for the Pediatric Residency Program and provided oversight of Pediatric Undergraduate Medical Education. In 2016, she was appointed as the Pediatric Residency Program Co-Director for Pediatrics at Our Lady of the Lake and Director in 2021, where she oversees resident performance and educational goals of the residency program.

Upon completing her medical degree at LSU Health Sciences New Orleans in 2006, she completed her residency in pediatrics at LSU Health Sciences New Orleans. Dr. Roy is Board Certified in General Pediatrics and Pediatric Hospital Medicine.
