Our Lady of the Lake Physician Group Surgeons Group of Baton Rouge Welcomes 20th Fellow, David Kelter, MD

August 02, 2024

BATON ROUGE, LA - Our Lady of the Lake Physician Group Surgeons Group of Baton Rouge (SGBR) is pleased to welcome Dr. David Kelter, MD as the 20th Fellow to be trained by the group. Dr. Kelter was chosen from 83 applicants for the highly selective program for 2024-2025.

Under the guidance of the experienced physicians at SGBR, Fellows like Dr. Kelter gain hands-on training and gradually assume the role of primary surgeon. The program focuses on minimally invasive and robotic surgeries to ensure fellows acquire extensive expertise in these advanced techniques.

Dr. Kelter earned his undergraduate degree from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts, and his Doctor of Medicine from St. George’s University School of Medicine in St. George, Grenada. He completed his residency in General Surgery at Inspira Health Network in Vineland, New Jersey.

Mark G. Hausmann, MD, FACS, FASMBS, a partner at SGBR, stated, "Dr. Kelter’s experience and passion for minimally invasive surgery and interest in improving the lives of his patients are a perfect fit for our fellowship program and our practice. We look forward to working with him."

Dr. Kelter's arrival also marks the departure of the current Fellow, James "Tee" Griscom, MD. SGBR wishes Dr. Griscom the best of luck in his future endeavors in Tennessee.

For 20 years, SGBR has provided advanced surgical training in GI MIS, bariatrics, complex gastrointestinal surgery, foregut, biliary, and liver surgery, marking a significant milestone for the group as the regional leader in surgical education and patient care.

The fellowship program, established in 2003 by Karl LeBlanc, MD MBA, FACS, FASMBS, has consistently provided exceptional training opportunities.

"Our fellowship program is well-respected, and it allows us to attract top talent to Baton Rouge. Many of the well-trained surgeons in our community today were trained right here at Our Lady of the Lake with the Surgeons Group of Baton Rouge," Dr. Hausmann said.

Partners of Our Lady of the Lake Physician Group Surgeons Group of Baton Rouge include Dr. Karl LeBlanc, Dr. Mark Hausmann, Dr. Kenneth Kleinpeter, Dr. Brent Allain, Dr. John Lyons, Dr. Mo Al Efishat, Dr. Dani Cobb, and Dr. Daryl Marx.
