Our Lady of the Lake Health and Ascension Parish Government Reintroduce Public Health Unit and Ascension Counseling

March 19, 2024

Today, Our Lady of the Lake Health and Ascension Parish Government hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony marking nearly a year that Our Lady of the Lake has been managing the Ascension Parish Health Unit and Ascension Counseling to the community. The event also marks a reintroduction of the services offered by the health unit and counseling center. The health unit and counseling centers are central components of Healthy Ascension and part of the cooperative endeavor agreement signed between Ascension Parish Government and Our Lady of the Lake Health to provide enhanced access to healthcare services to residents of Ascension Parish.

“Our Lady of the Lake Health has been privileged to serve the people of Ascension Parish for many years and we are proud to partner with Ascension Parish Government to bring the resources of our robust healthcare organization to those seeking care at the health unit and counseling center,” said Chuck Spicer, Our Lady of the Lake President. “Our commitment to Ascension and its citizens has never been stronger.”

Through the health unit and counseling center, services such as adult and childhood vaccinations, dietitian counseling, on-site pharmacy, mobile services, mental and behavioral health services for children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families including individual and family counseling, evaluations, and medical management and more are provided to Ascension Parish residents.

In addition to enhanced access to services, patients now have access to Our Lady of the Lake’s secure online patient portal, MyChart, where they can quickly and safely access their health information, providing citizens greater access to care through telehealth and additional on-call services with 24-hour, 7-day-a-week coverage.

“The ribbon cutting signifies a new beginning for the health unit and counseling center, one which expands the existing services of these facilities to better provide for the physical and mental health of the people of Ascension Parish,” said Clint Cointment, Ascension Parish President. “We welcome Our Lady of the Lake as a valued member of the community and are happy to say that our partnership has already begun to produce positive results.”
