Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital Invites Public to Name New Animal Ambassador for Family Support Home

January 09, 2024

Ahead of the Hogs for the Cause Family Support Home grand opening, Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital invites the community to name the new animal ambassador, a smiling cartoon pig, representing the home. The family support home, lovingly referred to as the “Hogs House,” will open to patients and their families in February.

The public is invited to vote on four potential names for the animal ambassador: Frannie, Rosie, Louie or Barb. Voting happens on Facebook and Instagram from January 8-12.

The winning name will be announced on January 17.

The new animal ambassador joins a family of critters representing Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital on signage throughout the facility, including Gracie the Alligator, Jacques the Bullfrog and Claudette the Crab.

“The Hogs House will be a positive environment for patients and families to focus on healing without the burden of finding housing, and we’re thrilled to begin welcoming families soon,” said Jonathan Brouk, Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Health President. “We hope helping to name our new animal ambassador is a fun way to celebrate a transformational moment for our patients and their families.”

The Hogs for the Cause Family Support Home at Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital will serve as on-campus housing for families from Louisiana and beyond who have a child receiving ongoing healthcare treatment at Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital in Baton Rouge. Within walking distance from the hospital’s campus, the Family Support Home will have 12 suites, a communal dining lounge, a guest kitchen, a laundry area, and other amenities.

Media is invited to save the date for the ribbon-cutting ceremony and a walkthrough of the house on February 22, 2024. More details will be shared closer to the event.
