Prathipa Santhanam, MD, Joins Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Health

Pediatric gastroenterologist specializes in treating patients with nutritional disorders and intestinal failure

BATON ROUGE, LA – Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Health has welcomed Prathipa Santhanam, MD, to its group of providers.

A pediatric gastroenterologist, Dr. Santhanam treats patients with a variety of gastrointestinal conditions, including abdominal pain, constipation, nausea, vomiting, eosinophilic esophagitis, IBD and more. She has a special interest in treating patients with nutritional disorders and intestinal failure.

Dr. Santhanam received her bachelor’s degree in biology, physics and chemistry from Anglo-Chinese Junior College in Singapore before earning her doctoral degree from the PSG Institute of Medical Sciences and Research in India. She went on to complete her pediatric residency at the Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY, and her ACGME Fellowship in pediatric gastroenterology at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, NC.

Certified by the American Board of Pediatrics, Dr. Santhanam was awarded the 2022 Walter Tunnessen Award for Best Clinical Science Research at UNC. She is also a member of several societies, including the American Academy of Pediatrics, the North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition, and the American Gastroenterological Association.
