The American Cancer Society and Our Lady of the Lake Cancer Institute Announce Partnership to Fight Cancer and Help Save Lives in Louisiana

March 31, 2022

Baton Rouge, LA – The American Cancer Society is proud to announce a new partnership with Our Lady of the Lake Cancer Institute aimed at saving more lives from cancer in Louisiana. The three-year investment includes a campaign to increase cancer screening rates, patient education and collateral, employee engagement opportunities, and Presenting Sponsor rights for the American Cancer Society Excel Baton Rouge Best Dressed Ball.

“We are so thankful to Our Lady of the Lake Cancer Institute for helping to further our lifesaving mission,” said Amy Williams, strategic partnerships manager for the American Cancer Society. “For more than 100 years, as the nation’s preeminent cancer-fighting organization, the American Cancer Society has led an evolution in the way the world prevents, detects, treats, and thinks about cancer. These funds will help us continue to fight for a world without cancer.”

This partnership will save more lives in Louisiana by funding groundbreaking cancer research, supporting education and prevention efforts, and providing free information and critical services for people who need them.

Our Lady of the Lake’s commitment to cancer care directly aligns with the American Cancer Society’s mission to improve cancer care outcomes, alleviate barriers to care, advance health equity, advance innovation, and improve survivorship for cancer patients and their families.

“As the community leader in cancer care for over 30 years, Our Lady of the Lake is committed to key partnerships that create stronger cancer care for the people we serve,” shared Linda Lee, Our Lady of the Lake Cancer Institute VP of Cancer Services. “Working more closely with the American Cancer Society will provide opportunities to better support our mission and care for our community.”

The investment is part of a greater commitment from Our Lady of the Lake Cancer Institute to take cancer services to the next level of treatment and effectiveness. In fall 2021, Our Lady of the Lake announced its plans for a freestanding cancer facility. The facility will include more than 80,000 square feet that will be directly connected to the Regional Medical Center providing ease of access to a full suite of services for all cancer patients. The Cancer Institute will include medical and surgical oncology practices, a chemotherapy/infusion center, advanced imaging and diagnostics for treatment, dedicated infusion pharmacy, an on-site pharmacy and a state-of-the-art conference center, which together deliver on multidisciplinary care, education, research, patient wellness and innovation.

Our Lady of the Lake Cancer Institute is accredited by the Commission on Cancer, affirming the highest standards in cancer research, treatment, prevention and education, and meeting successful completion of a rigorous review process. This accreditation has been in place since 1990, demonstrating the sustained quality of this comprehensive approach.
