Know what to expect before, during and after CAR-T therapy.
Your caregiver is an important part of your care team. They'll stay with you 24/7 for about 30 days, drive you to appointments, help monitor your recovery, manage medications and contact your care team if any concerns arise.
Yes. For eligible patients, outpatient CAR-T therapy is a safe option that allows you to recover outside the hospital while staying closely connected to your care team. You'll have daily follow-up visits and immediate access to the hospital if additional care is needed.
For the first 30 days after treatment, you'll need to stay within a 30-minute drive of Our Lady of the Lake Cancer Institute. If you don't live nearby, our team can help arrange local lodging.
Most commercial insurance plans and Medicare cover CAR-T therapy for approved conditions. Before treatment begins, we'll work with your insurance provider to obtain the necessary authorization.
You don't have to figure it out alone. Your Financial Navigator will help you understand your benefits, coordinate insurance approvals and connect you with available financial assistance programs.
Our Lady of the Lake Cancer Institute brings advanced CAR-T therapy closer to home, so many Louisiana patients can receive specialized treatment without traveling out of state. You'll be supported by an experienced, multidisciplinary team every step of the way.
