Your child is in good hands. Our team recognizes how stressful illness or injury can be – not only to your child, but also to your family. We provide Child Life Specialists to help guide you and your child through the entire duration of care at our hospital. Our Child Life Specialists—who are trained to help children understand their diagnosis, prepare them for procedures and talk to them in terms they can understand—are available 24-hours a day to answer any questions you might have.
While in the Emergency Room waiting area at our hospital, your child may have access to medication to make him or her feel better while waiting to see a physician. You may discuss this option with your nurse upon arrival.
After receiving treatment in the emergency room, your child may be discharged to go home or, if needed, admitted to another area of Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital.
Our PICU is designed and staffed to care for the most critically ill children and to provide the region's most comprehensive pediatric services.
Our Pediatrics Unit is designed for children admitted for both medical and surgical diagnoses.
The Newton & Betsy Thomas Family Center for Newborn & Infant Intensive Care is a surgical NICU with 11 beds in 10 private rooms, promoting a family-centered environment. Our neonatologists specialize in newborn care and are trained in diagnosing and treating newborn conditions.
