Hogs for the Cause Family Support Home at Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital

The Hogs for the Cause Family Support Home is a gift to our community funded by generous donations. Located on the campus of Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital, the Family Support Home is a place of respite offering accommodations without charge for families meeting criteria and needing temporary housing during their child’s active treatment at Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital or one of Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Health-affiliated clinics.

Families staying at the home are able to focus on healing for their children instead of the financial, emotional and physical burdens that often go hand in hand with serious illness.

Those families wishing to stay at our Family Support Home in Baton Rouge can visit with a social worker at Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital to request a referral or apply directly below.

To qualify for a room at the Hogs for the Cause Family Support Home, applicants must:

• Be a parent/caregiver, family member, close relative or sibling of a patient receiving care at Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital or one of Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Health-affiliated clinics.
• Live a distance from the campus that makes getting to and from Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital or an affiliated clinic difficult. Milage will be a factor in consideration for acceptance.
• Demonstrate financial need.

All requests are subject to availability.

Parents and caregivers of children receiving intensive care or who need long-term inpatient care receive priority placement.

One room is issued per accepted family, accommodating up to three guests with additional space for an infant.

All family members 18 years of age or older applying to stay at our Family Support Home must successfully clear a criminal background screening to be accepted as an overnight guest.
