Advancing Acadiana is our bold vision to meet the growing needs of the region, allowing us to treat our patients in the right place, with the right resources, at the right time, designed to improve quality and experience.
In the next three years we will invest nearly $100 million across all our campuses, through construction projects, technological advancements and process enhancements.
At Women’s & Children’s Hospital, the Main Entrance will be closed, and the facility will consolidate into one entrance. The Emergency Department entrance will serve as the Main Entrance to the hospital in addition to being the entrance to the Emergency Department. All visitors must enter through the Emergency Department entrance. Ambulance traffic remains unchanged.
The Atrium Hallway at Women’s & Children’s Hospital will be closed for construction of a new NICU patient elevator. A detoured route through the second floor is designated with signage.
When entering through the Emergency Department Entrance (currently Main Entrance), patients and visitors will need to:
> Take the lobby elevator up to the second floor.
> Walk through the second-floor Atrium Hallway.
> Take the elevator near Postpartum, Well Baby Nursery, and NICU back down to the first floor to access the Aquarium Lobby for the following services:
- Ronald McDonald Family Room
- Outpatient Services
- Cafeteria and Vending
- Administration
- Pediatrics
- PICU
Alligator footprints will be placed on the floor to guide patients along the detour. Additional directional signage will also be placed throughout the hospital and on the detour route.
Temporary walls will be installed in the ED lobby, as we are having to redirect incoming traumas while construction is underway. We will also be installing exterior barrier walls around our workspace, which will be coned and flagged off to avoid vehicle or patient interference on the drive deck. Scaffolding will be placed and secured around the exterior stairwell.
As part of our commitment to Advancing Acadiana, our bold vision to meet the growing needs of our region, we announced our next steps for Our Lady of Lourdes Women’s & Children’s Hospital. The multi-phased renovation and expansion strategy includes a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) with family suites, modernizing the labor & delivery experience, construction of a new Mother Baby unit, further developing our women’s medical/surgical unit, a new chapel, and other notable interior and exterior improvements.
Our Lady of Lourdes has been serving Acadiana since 1949. Lourdes is uniquely capable of being your healthcare partner across your full spectrum of life. We employ more than 2,800 team members, including a medical staff of more than 850 in a variety of medical surgical specialties.
