At St. Dominic Hospital, it is our mission to be a spiritual and healing presence for our patients. But we know that we are here because of the continued support of our community, and donors like you. When you give, you join us in our ministry of healing. There are many ways to give of your time, talent and financial resources.
Volunteering can be an incredibly rewarding experience. Studies have shown patients have better outcomes in the presence of caring volunteers. We offer many different areas that can match your interest. Our Volunteer Office is located on the first floor of the main hospital near the South Lobby entrance. Call (601) 200-6739.
Even with modern medicine, there’s no substitute for human blood. St. Dominic Health regularly hosts blood drives, and when you donate you are truly giving the gift of life.
Volunteers are a very valuable asset to St. Dominic's Hospital. Volunteers not only serve as support for our team members but also provide patients and visitors with an extra touch of personal customer service. The many services provided by our volunteers are an essential part of the continued success of St. Dominic’s healing ministry.
Our wonderful volunteers are called on to help with a variety of important duties and activities that assist our patients, visitors, patient family members and hospital team members. St. Dominic's Hospital offers a variety of volunteer positions, including presiding over information desks, directing waiting room guests, wayfinding and locating wheelchairs, environmental services surveying, pastoral care rounding and other purposeful behind-the scenes efforts. Volunteer Services also offers “at home” projects for volunteers who are home bound or unable to report to the hospital. Some of these projects include knitting caps for oncology patients, knitting washcloths for babies in the NICU, as well as making rosaries and other heart-felt comfort measures for guests and patients. Whatever your gift or talent may be, the only thing a person really needs to volunteer is a heart for service!
