The No Such Thing as Impossible® Bike Ride Fundraiser provides support for the Wheels to Succeed program.
This year’s ride is May 19, 2024.
Wheels to Succeed
Wheels to Succeed is a program of the Our Lady of the Lake Children's Health Children’s Developmental Center at College. The initiative was founded in 2007 to provide adapted bikes to children with developmental delays and disabilities. These specialty bikes can cost up to $8,000, making them cost prohibitive for many families.
Through the support of donors and participants in the No Such Thing as Impossible bike ride, the Center has been able to provide 220 bikes through the end of 2023.
No Such Thing As Impossible
In 2009, Wheels to Succeed got a significant boost when local businessman and philanthropist Jairo Alvarez joined with the Center to hold the first No Such Thing As Impossible bike ride. Jairo’s vision that children of all abilities have the opportunity to know the joy and freedom of riding a bike aligns with the mission of the program and has been getting bikes in the hands of kids for 15 years.
The 2024 edition offers participants the option of a 10-, 40-, or 75-mile ride beginning at Pointe-Marie before taking a scenic pedal along historic River Road in Baton Rouge. To see the routes, register here.
