Our Lady of Lourdes Earns An 'A' Hospital Safety Grade Again from The Leapfrog Group, 2024

May 08, 2024

LeapFrog Hospital Safety Grade A

New Grade for spring 2024 is a national recognition for patient safety

Lafayette, LA - Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center has once again earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit watchdog. Leapfrog assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country based on over 30 measures of errors, accidents, injuries and infections as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent them.

As the only honored hospital in Lafayette, LA, Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center has received the “A” Grade consecutively the past five survey periods, since Spring 2022. This recognition exemplifies the commitment to provide safe, high-quality care to our patients in our community every day.

"Receiving an ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group again reflects the hard work and dedication of our healthcare professionals who maintain the highest standards of quality and patient safety," said Stephanie Manson, President, Our Lady of Lourdes Health. "This recognition is a testament to our continuous efforts to prioritize patient well-being and to implement effective safety protocols. It's an honor that underscores our organization's pledge to deliver the best healthcare outcomes for our community."

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital ratings program focused exclusively on preventable medical errors, infections and injuries that kill more than 500 patients a day nationally. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.

“Everyone who works at Our Lady of Lourdes should be proud of this ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “It takes complete dedication at every level, and an ironclad commitment to putting patients first. I thank Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center, its leadership, clinicians, staff and volunteers for caring so deeply for its patients and their safety.”
