2023 AHA Get With the GuidelinesOur Lady of the Lake was also awarded the American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines Gold Plus award, recognizing quality measures and adherence to the latest scientific treatment guidelines for excellent patient outcomes. Time is brain and when a stroke strikes, where you seek care matters. Research shows approximately two million neurons are lost every minute that a stroke is untreated. The level of recovery from strokes is often greatly impacted by what action is taken in the first few hours after a stroke is discovered.

Complex Treatment

We’re proud that our team’s average monthly “door to needle” clot-busting treatment time for ischemic stroke is under 30 minutes – among the fastest times in the state. As a Comprehensive Stroke Center of Excellence, we also offer 24/7 care for clot retrieval and coiling procedures during hemorrhagic stroke. Our specialized, 20-bed neurocritical care unit is staffed by nurses certified in stroke and critical care, ensuring tailored, expert care for individuals with stroke and neurological conditions throughout your recovery.

Recovery Care

After a stroke, nearly every patient will need some form of rehabilitation to restore function. In the neurology unit at Our Lady of the Lake, inpatient physical therapists, occupational therapists and speech therapists work closely with neurologists to assess your needs and begin rehabilitation right away. Our team partners with patients and their families to build a customized rehabilitation plan to achieve their recovery goals.
