The staff at Our Lady of the Lake is completely committed to medical excellence. We fervently believe in the value of receiving a broad range of healthcare from one trusted provider, and we pursue and provide a comprehensive range of advanced programs, treatments and technologies.
The Lake's emergency room is the largest and most modern in Baton Rouge, and our private medical center is the largest in Louisiana, with more than 700 licensed beds. In a given year, we treat approximately 25,000 patients in the hospital, and serve about 350,000 persons through outpatient locations. Our Pediatric Intensive Care Unit is the area's largest, and the Children's Emergency Room was the first of its kind in the area to exist separately from a main emergency room.
We offer a diverse group of extended services, including the Tau Center for Chemical Dependency; a wealth of resources and programs for seniors through our Division of Elderly Services; and St. Anthony's Home, a comfortable residence where advanced-stage AIDS patients receive compassionate, professional care.
Our mission to care for a patient's lifetime extends throughout our affiliated primary care group, Our Lady of the Lake Physician Group, which is the largest in the area.
Today, our staff of medical doctors exceeds 850 and represents a spectrum of diverse knowledge and experience. Approximately 70 percent of our physicians and other professional medical staff members are board certified, and in nearly one-third of our medical specialty areas, 100 percent of the physicians and other professionals are board certified.
From allergy and immunology to oncology and nationally recognized stroke care, the staff and programs at OLOL cover more than 60 medical specialties. Our innovative treatment programs and extended services are designed to address a wide variety of health- and lifestyle-related problems and issues.
